Magazine's are hard to fine and the action is in fact different from the AK. Cool collectible, and nice gun, but due to parts incompatibility: I would recommend a standard AK for SHTF preps.

As an investment... You could sit on it for a year or two or seven, and sell it to collectors as it'll be a preban if they pass another AWB. There's not as many of them and they're unique so I imagine they'll appreciate better than a normal AK.

Never heard any complaints about them other than the magazine issue. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong about that or the parts btw. It's been a while.

Saiga-12 would be my focus if I was looking to grandfather guns right now. The new AWB is specifically hard on autoloading shotguns. That combined with a ATF destructive device unilateral ban at any time: that is THE GUN to have. Convert it ASAP. I don't think you can after the ban is passed.

As far as AK's: 7.62x39 isn't as cheap as it used to be: compare the ammo price against the AK-74 if you're not specifically looking for brick wall/kevlar penetration, and are more interested in reliability.

Get your machine pistols, high capacity magazines, and Uzi's now while you can also.

Saiga 12 10 rounders and the drum back plates will be the first to double if you ask me.
